This is one of the Cheli and Peacock properties that include the wonderful Joy’s Camp and Elsa’s Kopje, and Elephant Pepper is of the same ilk. The emphasis and guiding principle for the camp has been on the fact that for 3 months the camp is totally dismantled to give the area time to re-populate and rejuvenate.

Set to the northern area of the Mara, the 8 tents are all well spaced and look out across the open plains of the Koiyaki reserve. All with en-suite bush showers and flush loos with veranda and hammocks, the camp has a basic but intimate feel. The communal areas surround the camp fire which lends for tall tales of bush life.

Set to the north of the Masai Mara National Park, Elephant Pepper benefits from being away from the crowded Western region of the park. Set into natural woodland and looking out to the plains beyond, each tent has good cover and remains cool in the heat of the day. Generally good year round for game, the best months to visit the camp is from September through until November. The communal areas are pretty good and the tents are a good size.
