Borana This is set up in the rolling hills that overlook the Lewa Downs, on the edge of the Samangua Valley. Originally, and still, a working cattle ranch, the name for the lodge comes from the Boran cattle that wander the region. Each of the 6 stone cottages nestles into the side of a small valley which looks out upon a watering hole.
Built from local stone and wood, each room is spacious and warm as, at 6,500 feet, there can be a chill in the air in the evening. With en-suite bathrooms and baths, the rooms all have large windows from which to admire the outstanding view. As it is still a privately owned area of 35,000 acres, all fenced, the game here does not migrate and so there is usually a good chance of seeing one of the many lions or elephant on horseback, in a car, or, if lucky, on foot.
