Delta DunesIncorporating a series of small streams that make up the effluence of the Tana River which snakes its way across Kenya, the Tana Delta is probably one of the last remaining, untouched regions in this area of Kenya. Delta Dunes – The Facts6 stunning mangrove and makuti, dune-top roomsA whole host of wilderness activities35 kilometer, untouched beachSwimming poolDelta Dunes – The DetailNestled amongst the sand dunes and doum palms that run north from Malindi, are 6 open fronted “castaway” style rooms, with all the ultimate comforts. Alfresco dining and lounging with 360 degree views around, serving ice cold drinks and delicious freshly caught seafood. From the camp you are able to explore the Delta wetlands which are diverse as they are unique and fragile, with amazing birdlife and large numbers of hippos & crocodiles. Enjoy 35kms of uninterrupted deserted beaches and miles of rippling, rolling sand dunes, all to yourself. Creek fishing, kayaking and sand yachting are some of the activities that are on offer. The essence of the lodge is to be a true wilderness experience with each of the rooms cleverly designed to blend into the dunes that are the main feature of this beautiful region. As the dunes give way to mangrove and open grassland heading inland, there runs a series of small waterways that make up one of the last untapped areas of Kenya. An afternoon spent walking and boating trips into the area can reward with views of elephant, hippo and crocodile…this is possibly the best bird viewing area in East Africa. from the front of the dunes is a short walk down to the vast beach and open Indian Ocean. This stretch of coast that runs from Lamu in the north through to Malindi in the south, is completely untouched by modern development and so is a real treat. It is not necessarily the beaches of the Maldives, but it is a superb and raw wilderness. Delta Dunes – Our viewThe Tana Delta and the Delta Dunes camp is something very different from the rest. What the lodge offers is a truly memorable experience that will let you glimpse one of the last and most remote areas that East Africa has to offer. It is a place where hippo can still be occasionally seen riding the surf as it rolls in from the ocean, or fish eagles can be seen walking along the beach looking for stranded prey. We are a big fan of the lodge in general as it really has both a relaxed and authentic feel. Where it may not be for those wanting to just lie on a white sand beach sipping pina coladas, it requires you to get involved and makes you feel like you are discovering this wild region for yourself, for the first time. A stay in the lodge will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated! CLICK HERE TO ENTER OUR MAIN SITE
